Forge Dam

Most people end up at the Forge Dam cafe following a stroll along the Porter Brook, through Whitely Woods from Endcliffe Park. The cafe is well worth the stroll, the dam is impressive to watch and feeding the ducks on the pond is always lovely (don’t feed them bread please). But next time make sure you head up the paths behind the cafe and explore the lovely woods and parkland that makes up the rest of this park. It took me 16 years to find this!

Forge Dam doesn’t have much parking and the narrow windy road can be tricky to navigate and park on. It’s probably best accessed on foot via Whitely woods. The path carries on along the Brook from there up to Ringinglow and on to the Roman Road and Fox House beyond.
